Ne vedem online, însă fără a uita bucuria autentică a întâlnirii. – Octavian Saiu

”A few decades ago, a mysterious expression became the symbol of endless explorations: laboratory theatre. Its origin remains rather uncertain, floating in the mythology of performing arts. However, the place where it was born is well known. Since then, since the roaring 60s, Wrocław has remained a unique landmark in the theatrical geography of the world. However, what do Grotowski’s ideas mean to our restless times? Can a laboratory theatre or, at least, a theatre laboratory still exist for the new generations of artists?
Despite all possible distances, our dialogues continue. So you are invited to a conversation about the stage and about its chance to regenerate itself through explorations and experiments. Without applied research, theatre becomes an ivory tower. Through vision and innovation, through the genuine correlation between practice and theory, it always discovers its resources to move forward. The guests of this dialogue are three key figures of the global theatrical sphere: Jarosław Fret (Director of the legendary Grotowski Institute and of Teatr Zar), Magda Romanska (Executive Director and Editor -in-Chief of the well-known publication The Theater Times, and Principal at metaLab, Harvard University) and Christine Schmalor (Director of the World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT, the Research Centre of ITI – UNESCO) – three personalities who lead the theatrical thinking in different cultural areas. Their discourses will affirm the belief that the organic process of research is the solid foundation of any theatrical culture.
On October 27, Teatrelli will confirm the fact that it has become a laboratory of new creative stage practices, through a unique edition of The Seasons of Theatrical Dialogue. We will talk about Grotowski’s legacy, about the new perspectives of theatre studies, about quantum pedagogy in acting, about the risks of the dramatic body, about the poor theatre, about the value of concepts and the significance of emotions, about the threatened stage of our uncertain world. Online, but with the feeling of liveness and the inherent liveliness of genuine theatrical dialogue. Let’s not miss this opportunity to reflect together on a topic that for us, for so few, means so much: theatre’s survival through research, vision, and innovation.” – Octavian Saiu
