Creart invites you to visit Art Safari 2016!

Creart invites you to attend the third edition of Bucharest Art Fair – Art Safari, the largest exhibition of art from Romania, in partnership with the Municipality of Bucharest, under the patronage of UNESCO and the European Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations (EFUCA), which will be held between 5th and 15th of May 2016 in Dacia-Romania Palace, a palace that also hosts the Picture Gallery of the Municipality of Bucharest.

Situated in the Old City of Bucharest, at No. 18-20 Lipscani Street, this historic building will host a significant art event.

The Mayor of Bucharest, Razvan Sava, describes this partnership as follows: “I am glad that this monument building finds back its way on our city cultural map, reopening its doors for this international artistic event. The Municipality of Bucharest tries to actively support urban initiatives, as well as all the activities destined to educate through culture. After a long period when it was closed to the public, the former Dacia-Romania Insurance Society Palace, the first Romanian insurance society, will be again included in the cultural tour of Bucharest, along with the partnership between the Municipality of Bucharest and Bucharest Art Fair –Art Safari”.

11 days of art will conquer our Capital, no matter if we speak about patrimony, modern or contemporary art. Besides the main exhibition, dedicated to the celebration of 100 years since Dada movement was founded, and the modern and contemporary galleries area, a series of spaces destined to Art Safari Fair will host conferences, art shows, the project “The Space”, dedicated to young artists who make their debut, as well as workshops for children.

Art Safari 2016 Schedule

Between 5th and 15th of May, our public may enjoy flexible hours as the Art Fair will be opened every day between 12 am and 9 pm, except of Saturdays, when it is opened up until midnight. Invitations will be issued for the view day on the 5th of May, while tickets and subscriptions for the period 6th – 15th of May will be available online and inside the exhibition area.

Art Safari 2016 Novelties

New contemporary art galleries are opened in the cultural space, among them two will be organised in the centre of Bucharest, namely Mobius Gallery and Conceptual Lab – Mixology for Ideas, as well as “Nostru”, an artist-run space from Sibiu, events which will exhibit this year within Art Safari. The main exhibition Dada in Romania and the Avant-garde Spirit, curated by Raya Zommer-Tal, director of the Museum Janco-Dada of Ein Hod, Israel, and the researcher Igor Mocanu, a specialist in Romanian avant-garde movement, will bring together a series of artistic works belonging to important private collections from Romania and the following museums: Victor Brauner, Arthur Segal, Ion Bitzan, Tristan Tzara, Jean David, Brassaï, Jules Perahim, Max Ernst, Hans Janos Mattis-Teutsch, Margareta Sterian, Ion Grigorescu.
